Düsseldorf has 580,000 residents, about 12,000,000 people live in the adjacent area of 7800 sq. km, centering on this city. The beautiful Rhine connects the city with many other European cities and countries. Düsseldorf has now developed into a world renowned cultural and commercial center, with open arms for all who love innovation and life. Over 5000 enterprises from more than 50 countries settle here, 450 and more are from Japan, for which it is Düsseldorf dubbed “little Tokyo“. The Nordrhein-Westfalen State, with Düsseldorf as the center, is home to many enterprises that have close economic ties with China Mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong. There are over 60 Taiwan companies, one trade center and design center in Düsseldorf. The King Avenue is divided by a canal into two parts, one can often see swans on the water, springs sprinkling with crystal-like water drops. Every summer, the shaded avenue is connected with the pedestrian commercial area, forming a huge cafe in the open air. Still more, the king corridor decorated with marbles and exquisite bronze wares and the nearby commercial street are more eye-catching. On the other side of the avenue is the second largest banking area in Germany, one of the international financial centers. Booming economy has brought about the development of exhibition industry. There are over 40 international trade exhibitions held in Düsseldorf each year, half of which are “leading exhibitions” in the industry, and the well-known IGEDO fashion show is held six times a year. For the 20,000 exhibiting companies and 1500,000 visitors every year, Düsseldorf is “the ideal place for business”.

The opening Düsseldorf is first of all reflected in the highly developed aviation industry. Seventy special flights and charter airlines start from Düsseldorf Airport, reaching 150 cities around the world. It takes less than an hour to reach all major European cities by air, and the highways surrounding Düsseldorf are also well developed, making it the center of Germany and Europe as well.

For visitors in pursuit of art and culture, Düsseldorf is also well worth traveling. The German opera house by the Rhine has all kinds of classic and modern works on show, as well as fantastic ballet performance. Well-known artists like Gustaf Grundgens and Karl-Heinz Stroux make the opera here well-known throughout the world, putting on extraordinary performances each night. Well-known musicians like Richter, Menuhin, Karajan, Bohm Abbado and Barenboim have performed here, so did world jazz superstars. As an art capital, over hundreds of years, many world best artwork are created or exhibited here. Düsseldorf Art College is one of the three best art colleges in Germany. Painting lovers can find all kinds of art exhibitions in the artwork museum in Nordrhein-Westfalen State, where modern paintings in the 20th century are all on show, from Klee, Ernst, Braque, Mondrian, Kandinsky, Miro, Bissier, Leger, Chagall, Beckmann, Lichtenstein to Warhol and Beuys. In the opposite art hall, contemporary artwork are also available. In addition to the most important glass collections in Europe, the art museum in Ehrenhof also exhibits paintings, sculptures and craftwork from mid-century to now. In Düsseldorf, there are also Hetjens Museum exhibiting 8000-year pottery collections, navigation museum re-constructed from ancient palace buildings, Goethe Museum, Heinrich Heine academe and Dumont-Lindemann Archives, movie museum and hundreds of art galleries. Some are still under construction, like the plastics art museum.

“Hofgarten” is the downtown place for art and culture. Düsseldorf people love to wander in this 270,000 sq. meter park. There are also two large parks in the south and north. The south park was formerly the exhibition area of federal gardening show, with green trees and all kinds of flowers. Dussel creek starts here, with clear and clean water, running through greenbelts, which also gives name to the city.

The north park is close to the expo area, the most attractive one is the Japanese garden donated by Japanese community. Aquazoo located at L?bbecke museum in the north park attracts aquatic animal lovers throughout the year, many come with a whole family, filled with pleasure and happiness.

Düsseldorf is city full of vitality. Sports lovers can run on the green grass by the Rhine, ride horses in the Apoll forest, and sail at Lake Unterbach. There are swimming pools in all districts of the city, and the first public golf course in Germany is also built here. Those who are interested in history can go to the Benrath-barock Palace, which forms a natural integration with the surrounding trees. There are many romantic lanes, going through them, one can find Barbarossa-Pfalz Kaiserswerth (Ruins of Emperor Barbarossa's imperial palace). You can also go on to visit cultural relics in Xanten and Kalkar at the lower reaches of Rhine, and visit the well-preserved palace and castles.
