Positive Factors Stimulate Domestic and Export Markets - Footwear Industry Undergoes Upgrading and Transformation

The 13th Dongguan China Shoes. China Shoetec (Spring 2011) successfully concluded at GD Modern International Exhibition Center, Houjie, Dongguan on April 30, 2011. The exhibition area reached 18,000 square meters and attracted a total of 455 exhibitors from China and overseas. Being one of the top ten exhibitions in Dongguan, the exhibition gained attention and support from the local government. The town chief, deputy town chief and members of the town committee of Houjie Town, Dongguan attended the opening ceremony, visited the exhibition, had friendly conversations with exhibitors and showed appreciation of the onsite activities. 

 
The exhibition attracted a number of new international exhibitors such as Billete, Japanese men's fashion brand; Cesare Baroli, Italian luxury men's brand; Tatuaggi, Portuguese women's brand and Haflinger, German brand who want to explore the upsurging China market. With the fast growing consumption power in China and the increasing demand for high quality brand products, an increasing number of overseas companies come to favor Chinese market.The exhibition organizers will invite more qualified overseas exhibitors in the future.
 
As EU abolished the 16.5% anti-dumping duties imposed on Chinese leather shoes in early April this year, and that shoes orders to Europe have shown signs of recovery since late last year. The Organizers strived to invite more European buyers through British agencies such as ExpoPromoter. Over 50 high-qualified buyers from 12 countries and regions attended the show in groups.
 
Fabulous Concurrent Activities Help Brand Building and Channel Marketing
 
Adapting to the industry development and market needs, Dongguan China Shoes is now turning from a traditional trading platform to an upgraded platform of "Brand, Channel and Vogue" toserve exhibitors,in addition to serving the sourcing needs of buyers.

 
To meet the increasing demand of footwear companies to develop business in Chinese domestic market, China Shoes pioneered the brand matching trade activity "Vogue Brands in Dongguan" and invited over 20 new brands from Italy, U.S., Australia, Germany, Portugal, Japan, Hong Kong SAR and Mainland China. Most of them were participate with making their debuts in China and aiming to find business partners in mainland through "Business Matching ".
 
In terms of fashion and trend, the Organizers collaborated with Ytrends and WGSN, world-leading trends forecasting organizations, to organize seminars on footwear design and fashion trends release of 2012/13. Meanwhile, the Organizers held 2 fashion shows and invited over 10 renowned brands to show on the T-stage. The show, with a well-designed closed-door theater setting, offered a new sight to audience, enabled buyers and exhibitors to grasp the first hand fashion trends as well as bring inspirations and international elements to footwear designers.  
 
In addition, to help footwear industry players have a better understanding of trend information, latest products and technology, retail and brand management, the Organizers invited Mr. Michael Ng, experienced brand and retail management consultant, to share his experience on “Tips to OEMHow to run your retail business?” and to set up a modern mock shoe shop onsite for presentation. To strengthen the interaction between Mainland China and Hong Kong footwear companies, "Shoe Fountain" had its debut in Dongguan to display Hong Kong designers' latest original design shoes.
 
As the premier one-stop sourcing platform, the exhibition accommodated 3 special zones namely Shoes Zone, Materials, Leather and Accessories Zone and Shoe Machinery Zone which displayed a variety of men's and women's fashion footwear, children's footwear, leathers, accessories, machinery, etc. Various domestic and overseas fashion designs, luxury leather accessories and advanced machinery dazzled the visitors.
 
Staunch Support and Compliments from Buyers
 
Buyers' service continued to upgrade during the exhibition: the organizers not only offered free shuttle bus to the exhibition venue, but also provided buyers with free hotel service in Houjie, along with VIP express admission, priority to attend fashion releases/seminars, VIP Kit, VIP lounge, Starbucks coffee and other caring services. In addition, the organizers held the popular iPad-draw.

 

Mr. Fang from Hong Kong Adidas Sourcing Ltd. Guangzhou Representative Office, said this year's exhibition was quite fruitful for them: the machinery displayed was in accordance with their needs and they would place order soon. For footwear materials, they found a more competitive product compared with their present materials. For Manager Yuan from Synyang Co., this is his second time to attend China Shoes and he found several new suppliers of indoor slippers. "Dongguan China Shoes is a very professional and comprehensive exhibition where you can encounter many exhibitors of reasonable price and high quality." Yu Ziwen from Guangdong Stepping Shoes Co., Ltd said he found good shoe products at the exhibition and would recommend China Shoes to his friends in footwear business. Mr. Yu was also had a happy surprise as he won an iPad in the onsite Lucky Draw.

 
Overseas buyers also had good impression and appreciation to China Shoes. Yap Lian Poh from Singapore Lin Ho Pte Ltd. stated although this was his first time to attend the exhibition, he found several good suppliers and expected tohave business cooperation with them. Michael Sims Gim from Betts Group (an Australian retailer) said his main purpose here was to purchase casual men's and women's shoes. He was satisfied with the quality of the exhibition and has been in negotiation with a couple of exhibitors. Georgiana W. Lai from Kar Wing Trading Co., Inc (America) highly praised the exhibition, "The service for buyers is second to none."
 
With the support from associations, exhibitors and buyers, the 13th Dongguan China Shoes· China Shoetec (Spring 2011) came to an end successfully. The next exhibition (Autumn 2011) will be held again in Houjie, Dongguan on November 1 – 3, 2011, concurrent with shoe section of Canton Fair,to facilitate overseas buyers to visit the two exhibitions in one sourcing trip. The Organizers will provide overseas buyers with free shuttle bus service, to commute between two venues and also other free services in Donggu
 
Dongguan China Shoes.China Shoetec (Spring 2011) is jointly organized by China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Light Industrial Products and Arts-Crafts (CCCLA), Guangdong Sub Council, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd., and Guangdong Modern Convention and Exhibition Management Co., Ltd. It is the only professional footwear, materials and machinery exhibition in Dongguan.
