Messe Düsseldorf China and Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai report record breaking year in show results

12.12.2016

Messe Düsseldorf China (MDC) and Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai (MDS), the subsidiaries of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, among the world’s top 5 exhibition organizers, achieved remarkable key financial and trade fair results in 2016. With a clear focus on mainland China, Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai organized a total of 13 Trade Shows and Conferences adding up to 500,000 gross square meters of exhibition space, accommodating 7,325 national and international exhibitors who showcased their products and solutions to 331,836 visitors. For global trade shows, in 2016 Messe Düsseldorf China supported 14 world leading shows hosted by Messe Düsseldorf Group in Germany, Russia, Brazil, India and Vietnam, helping some 2,600 Chinese companies gain access to global markets.

Mr. Axel Bartkus, General Manager of Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai, is highly satisfied with the company’s performance this year: "The trade fair year 2016 was extremely successful and dynamic. We can say that new records were set at many of our shows, demonstrating our strength as an ideal destination for business contacts. The trade fair All in CARAVANING once again confirmed its position as an effective trade channel for China's developing caravan vehicle industry, which reached a 51% increase in visitors compared to last year. Energy Storage China went tremendously well attracting 2,186 visitors to explore the latest products. As A+A family show, COS+H developed steadily, covering a wide range of labor-safety equipment."

Four new shows unveiled in 2016

Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai keeps a close eye on markets and trends: Mr. Heiko M. Stutzinger, Deputy General Manager of Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai commented: "We recognize trends early on and develop events that are aligned with China's market requirements, both regionally and nationally. That's why we launched four new shows this year featuring renewable energy, medical devices, the printing industry and an extension on Fastener Technology for our highly successful wire China."

On July 16, the inaugural China Medical Innovation Forum was successfully held in Suzhou with more than 350 participants discussing new approaches in medical innovations and services. Smart Energy Expo signified an authoritative event for the "Internet of Energy Industry" with 4,026 visitors and more than 40 exhibitors participating for the first time. On the printing side, the innovative "3D fab +Print Summit" welcomed 140 attendees sharing insights on 3D printing technologies and future development. Mr. Bartkus added: "All these new fairs delivered a strong performance and created new platforms for business, networking and knowledge exchange".

Increasing number of Industrial and Consumer Fairs reflected in the strong company portfolio

In recent years, Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai has taken significant steps to solidify its brand positioning in China and worldwide. A major part of record-breaking exhibition space and visitor numbers was driven by the flagship industrial brands: CHINAPLAS, wire China/Tube China and All in Print China.

As one of the most influential trade fairs for wire, cable, tube and pipe industry, wire & Tube China attracted 42,199 buyers from 94 countries, a 10.4% increase over the last edition. The debut of the "Fastener Special Zone" in wire China increased the total exhibition space to an unprecedented 97,000 gross square meters in order to accommodate 1,645 exhibitors. The professional partners for wire & Tube, Shanghai Electric Cable Research Institute and Metallurgical Council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, see great value in cooperating with Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai.

MDS is also an influential leader in the area of printing exhibitions, with the All in Print China brand welcoming 76,818 visitors this year, a 24.2% increase from 2014. The long-term partners, Printing Technology Association of China and Keyin Media also expressed confidence on the prolific relationship with Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai.

Responding to the huge demand in the Chinese consumer goods market, C-star and ProWine China continued to grow with astonishing results. Both shows reached an increase of 33% and 20% in visitor numbers respectively with excellent feedback from industry experts.

Outstanding service quality in outbound business through successful organization of China Pavilions

Messe Düsseldorf China remains the ideal partner for overseas market expansion of Chinese enterprises. In 2016 alone, MDC successfully brought more than 700 renowned exhibitors to China Pavilions at the world's number-one trade fairs in medical devices, packaging & processing, plastics and rubber, wire and cable, glass technology and shoes & accessories industries.

Outlook for 2017: Full speed towards continued growth

"Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai never stopped setting itself ambitious goals." says Mr. Bartkus. In 2017, ProWine ASIA will debut in Hong Kong, serving as the perfect platform for export-oriented producers of wine and spirits across the world. With the tremendous success in 2015, the bi-annual show "swop - Shanghai World of Packaging" will also return in November 2017 showcasing cutting-edge packaging and processing technologies.
