SEC 2016 Drives Innovation and Development for the Smart Energy Industry

09.04.2016

On August 12th, 2016, the three-day Smart Energy China (SEC) 2016 concluded in the Qinhuangdao International Exhibition Center with great success. SEC 2016, themed "Internet+ Smart Energy: Build a New Model of the Internet of Energy Ecosystem," witnessed a gathering of over 100 political and industrial leaders, researchers and analysts. The meeting in Qinhuangdao City played host to over 50 exhibitors from the smart energy industry, over 3,000 industry experts from Asia and abroad, covered by over 100 journalists.

During the Internet of Energy Conference, China 2016, Mr. Qi Rang, Deputy Director of the Committee of Population, Resource and Environment, commented, "It is an important conference that must be remembered. It is of great significance to the construction of Internet of Energy and the development of the smart energy industry in China. A few years later when we look back on the achievements made in the development of the smart energy industry in China, we will better understand the importance of this conference."

Mr. Du Xiangwan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, commented regarding the conference, "The development of the Internet of Energy is characterized by Three Tendencies: electrification, low carbon content, and intelligence. The path to realize such development lies in Two Combinations, namely, combining distribution with concentration, and optimally combining the horizontal multi-energy complementation with the vertical development of source, grid, capacity, storage and usage. The internet is a network for information exchange. The Internet of Energy is a powerful network that uses the internet to reshape energy services. Numerous advanced sensors, controllers, software applications and big data technologies succeed in connecting countless devices, machines and systems at the energy production, transmission and consumption sides, so as to lay the foundation for Internet of Things (IoT) and for the Internet of Energy."

In his introduction of the development status of renewable energy in China, Mr. Shi Dinghuan, Chairman of China Renewable Energy Society, said, "The construction of Internet of Energy will face three great challenges in the future. Firstly, the government needs to invest a great number of funds to support the construction of energy infrastructures. Secondly, efforts shall be made to solve the application issue, namely the energy production and consumption problems, which requires lowering the renewable energy price and greatly reducing the costs. Thirdly, we shall further solve problems related to policy environment, system and mechanism."

According to Mr. Miao Ren, Associate Research Fellow of the Energy Research Institute of National Development and Reform Commission, "The Internet + Smart Energy (Internet of Energy) is expected to contribute 0.5% to 1% to the GDP. This percentage sounds low. However, you will not think so if you realize that the contribution of the whole industry to the GDP may be only 30% by 2030. Viewed in this way, when the contribution of Internet of Energy is 1%, the percentage is actually close to the contributions of many traditional industries in China."

Mr. Axel Bartkus, General Manager of Messe Düsseldorf (China) Co., Ltd., said: "SEC indeed represents an authoritative grand event for the Internet of Energy and the whole smart energy industrial chain in China. As a milestone in the development of the smart energy industry, it will open up the Internet of Energy ecosystem and usher in a new stage for the development of China’s smart energy industry. SEC has not failed our expectations and become the best platform for the commercialization of smart energy technologies."

In addition to the successful activities in the first SEC in 2015, SEC 2016 added a multitude of sub-forums and supporting activities closely related to the smart energy industry and the Internet of Energy.

Energizing On-Site Activities

Under the theme "Internet+ Smart Energy”, SEC 2016 has addressed a number of hot topics, including Regional Energy Grid Construction and Smart Micro-grid, Value Manifestation of Smart Energy Cloud and Energy Management and Control Systems, Application of the Classification Standards and Group Standards for Smart Energy Enterprises, Trends of Chinese New Energy, Matchmaking Conference for Smart Energy Programs and Industry Cooperation, and Innovation in the Business Models of Energy Internet. SEC 2016 also held the award ceremony for Leading Companies of the Smart Energy Industry in China, the 2016 Top 10 Practices in China’s Smart Energy Industry press conference, and the Enterprise Smart Energy Solutions press conference.

SEC 2016 has attracted around50 upstream, mid-stream and downstream exhibitors from the smart-energy industry supply-chain, including Baidu Open Cloud, Intel, Baosight, Dalu Mechanism & Electron, Smart Energy, Bosch, SPIC, Jecansoft, HYTM, Lekaman, together with Exhibition groups from Shandong (Jieneng Youdao Pavilion), Baoding and Qinhuangdao. These renowned enterprises provide a wide range of smart energy solutions, including photovoltaics, energy saving, illumination, heating and industrial production fields, as well as hardware devices, intelligent software development platforms, system integration services, and smart energy cloud services.

The exhibition of Baidu Open Cloud attracted much attention. Baidu Tiangong, the company’s smart IoT platform, was exhibited on the Baidu Open Cloud. Baidu Tiangong is a one-stop wholly hosting smart IoT platform constructed on Baidu Open Cloud, integrating Baidu big data with artificial intelligence technologies. Based on manufacturing requirements, Baidu Tiangong revolutionizes the IoT access, IoT resolution, IoT management, time-sequence database, and other innovative technologies.

As a leading software technology enterprise in China, Shanghai Baosight Software Co., Ltd. exhibited the Baosight Smart Energy Cloud management platform, demonstrating key energy control technologies, and displayed its latest products related to cloud applications and big data. Jinan Dalu Mechanism & Electron Co., Ltd. unveiled a public service measuring platform and the product’s applications. The platform is the only open measuring instrument information service platform in China, developed based on unique identification codes of measuring instruments.

Lekaman, an international renowned and domestic leading lighting manufacturer from Changzhou, exhibited various lighting solutions developed from their expertise on lighting and illumination. HYTM featured core technologies such as smoke residual heat recovery, absorption-based combined heat and power (CHP), and a series of personalized, professional and systematic comprehensive heat supply solutions.

SEC 2016 is supported by China Strategic Alliance of Technology and Innovation in Smart Energy Industry (SASE) and the Administration Committee of Qinhuangdao Economic & Technological Development Zone, organized by Zhongguancun Institute of Energy-saving Low-carbon Technology and Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.
